Explanation using Example

Imagine a situation where the police receive a tip-off about a residence in a suburban area that is being used for commercial sexual activities. Upon investigation, they find that the house has several rooms that are being used by individuals for engaging in sexual acts in exchange for money.

Under the The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, this residence can be classified as a "brothel" as per section 2(a) of the Act because it is a place used for sexual exploitation for the gain of the owner of the residence.

During the raid, the police discover a sixteen-year-old individual who is being sexually exploited. According to section 2(aa), this individual is considered a "child" under the Act, and additional protections and legal actions are warranted to safeguard their well-being.

The police are led by an officer who has been designated as a "special police officer" in accordance with section 2(i) of the Act, to ensure that the operation is carried out effectively and in compliance with the provisions related to the prevention of immoral traffic.

After the individuals are taken into custody, the minors found during the raid are placed in a "protective home" as per section 2(g), where they will receive care and protection away from the environment of exploitation, while the legal proceedings are underway.
