The Farm Laws Repeal Act, 2021 is an Act of the Parliament of India which seeks to repeal three farm laws passed in September 2020, namely The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. The Act was introduced in the Parliament on 22nd November, 2021 and passed by both the Houses on 22nd November, 2021 itself. The passing of this Act marks the end of a long-standing farmers' agitation which was going on since September 2020, demanding the repeal of the three farm laws which were perceived as anti-farmer. With the repeal of these laws, the government has promised to bring in new legislation which will address the concerns of the farmers.
