Explanation using Example
Imagine a garment manufacturing company, "Stitch & Style," which employs around 50 women workers. As per Section 48 of The Factories Act, 1948, the company is legally obligated to provide a creche facility since they have more than 30 women workers.
In compliance with the law, "Stitch & Style" sets up a creche room within the factory premises. This room is designed to accommodate the children under the age of six of these women workers. It is spacious, with plenty of natural light and good ventilation to ensure a healthy environment. The creche is equipped with child-friendly furniture, toys, and sleeping cots, and it is kept clean and sanitary at all times.
The company hires two qualified caretakers who are trained in early childhood care and first aid to look after the children while their mothers are at work. Additionally, the company follows the state government's rules by providing facilities for the children to have their clothes changed and washed, and it offers free milk and snacks to the children. Moreover, the factory arranges the work schedule in such a way that mothers have the opportunity to feed their children at regular intervals.
This initiative not only helps the company to comply with the legal requirements but also supports the female workforce by ensuring that their young children are in a safe and nurturing environment while they are working.
