Summary

The Enemy Property Act, 1968 was enacted to regulate enemy property in India during times of war and emergencies. The Act defines an 'enemy' as a country, state, or individual who is at war with India or is a citizen or subject of such a country or state. The Act also lays down provisions for the vesting of enemy property in the Custodian of Enemy Property for India, who is appointed by the Central Government. The Custodian is responsible for the management, administration, and disposal of the enemy property. The Act also provides for the constitution of an appellate tribunal for hearing appeals against the decisions of the Custodian.
