The Election Laws (Extension to Sikkim) Act, 1976 was enacted by the Indian Parliament to extend the applicability of certain provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and the Delimitation Act, 1972 to the state of Sikkim in India. The act was brought into force on the 25th of January, 1977. The provisions of the act apply to the conduct of elections to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly as well as to the election of the representative of the state in the Lok Sabha (lower house) of the Indian Parliament. The act also provides for the delimitation of parliamentary and assembly constituencies in the state of Sikkim.
