The Dehra Dun Act, 1871

The Dehra Dun Act, 1871 was enacted to provide for the better government of the town of Dehra Dun. The Act established a municipal government for Dehra Dun, with a chairman and councillors elected by local residents. It also empowered the government to make rules for the management of municipal affairs and the collection of taxes. The Act also provided for the establishment of a fund to be used for the maintenance and improvement of the town, and for the appointment of municipal officers to carry out the functions of the municipality. The Dehra Dun Act, 1871 is still in force today, with several amendments over the years.
