The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union territories) Act, 2019

The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union territories) Act, 2019 is an Act of the Indian Parliament which came into force on January 26, 2020. The Act merged the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu into a single union territory. The Act provides for the repeal of the two existing laws that governed the union territories and the creation of a new common High Court for the merged union territory. It also provides for the transfer of officers and employees of the two union territories to the merged union territory, and the continuation of their service under the new administration. The Act also includes provisions for the formation of a new legislative assembly and council of ministers for the merged union territory.
