The Customs Tariff Act, 1975

The Customs Tariff Act, 1975 is an Indian law that provides for the levy and collection of customs duties on imports and exports in India. The act provides for the classification of goods under various tariff headings and the determination of the rate of duty applicable to each such heading. The act also provides for the valuation of goods for the purpose of levy of duty, the assessment and collection of duty, and the refund of duty in certain cases. The act is enforced by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and has undergone several amendments over the years to keep pace with the changing economic scenario.
