Imagine a scenario where Mr. Gupta files a lawsuit against Mr. Sharma for failing to pay back a loan. The loan amount is $10,000. To file this lawsuit, Mr. Gupta needs to pay a court fee. According to Section 7(1) of The Court-Fees Act, 1870, the court fee that Mr. Gupta has to pay will be computed based on the amount claimed, which in this case is $10,000.
