Summary

The Commercial Courts Act, 2015 was enacted to provide for the establishment of Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division in the High Courts for adjudicating commercial disputes of specified value and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The Act provides for speedy disposal of commercial disputes of a value of at least one crore rupees or higher and for an appeal against the orders passed by the Commercial Courts. It also provides for the constitution of Commercial Appellate Courts in each state to hear appeals from the Commercial Courts. The Act lays down detailed provisions for the procedure to be followed by the Commercial Courts and the Commercial Appellate Courts.
