Summary
The Civil Defence Act of 1968 is an Act to provide for the constitution of a Civil Defence organisation for the purpose of dealing with civil defence and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The Act empowers the Central Government to take measures for civil defence and to appoint civil defence officers and other necessary personnel. It also provides for the establishment of a National Civil Defence Council and State Civil Defence Councils to advise and assist the Central Government. The Act further provides for the maintenance of a register of civil defence volunteers and the imposition of penalties for failure to comply with the provisions of the Act.
