The Central Universities Act, 2009

The Central Universities Act, 2009 was enacted by the Parliament of India to provide for the establishment and incorporation of universities for teaching and research in humanities, social sciences, sciences, technology, and other branches of learning. The act defines the powers, functions, and responsibilities of the central universities and their authorities. It also lays down the procedures for the appointment of the university officials, faculty, and staff, and regulates their terms and conditions of service. The act also provides for the establishment of a Visitor to the university who is responsible for ensuring compliance with the provisions of the act and has the power to investigate and give directions on matters relating to the university.
