The Cattle-Trespass Act, 1871 is an Indian legislation that aims to regulate the trespass of cattle on lands that are not their owner's. The Act provides the provisions to regulate the trespass of cattle on land, the procedure to be followed in case of such trespass, and the compensation payable to the owner of such land. It also provides penalties for the persons found guilty of such offences. The Act applies to the whole of India except the territories which were included in the Presidency-towns of Madras and Bombay.
