The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 was enacted to regulate the operation of cable television networks in India. It defines the terms and conditions for the grant of registration to cable television networks, the code of conduct to be observed by cable operators, the powers and functions of the regulatory authority, and the penalties for violations of the provisions of the Act. The Act also provides for the establishment of a Cable Television Network Regulation Advisory Council and an Appellate Tribunal to hear appeals against decisions of the regulatory authority.
