Explanation using Example

Imagine a young lawyer named Anjali recently completed her law degree. She wants to practice law in her home state of Karnataka. To begin her legal career, she must first be admitted as an advocate by the Karnataka State Bar Council. This is an application of clause (a) of Section 6(1) of The Advocates Act, which states that the State Bar Council admits persons as advocates on its roll.

Once Anjali is admitted, her name will be entered onto the roll that the State Bar Council maintains, as per clause (b) of Section 6(1).

Later in her career, Anjali may observe a fellow advocate engaging in professional misconduct. She can report this to the State Bar Council, which has the function of determining cases of misconduct against advocates on its roll, as per clause (c).

If Anjali faces challenges in her practice, such as infringement of her professional rights, she can rely on the State Bar Council to protect her interests in accordance with clause (d).

Furthermore, Anjali benefits from continuing legal education seminars organized by the State Bar Council, which is an example of clause (ee) in action, promoting legal knowledge among advocates.

As Anjali becomes more established, she might participate in the legal aid programs organized by the State Bar Council to help the poor, demonstrating clause (eee).

Lastly, if Anjali decides to contribute to a welfare scheme for disabled advocates, her contributions would be managed by the State Bar Council, which may create funds for such purposes as described in Section 6(2)(a).
